Dubbed the PokerWorld Million Dollar Showdown, the event pits PokerWorld.com"s online champion against The Pokerface, a masked player whose identity is virtually unknown—in a televised heads-up match. Making the announcement at the 2004 World Series of Poker Tournament at the Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas, PokerWorld guaranteed a prize payout of $500,000 for the PokerWorld Championship Tournament and an additional $500,000 added in a dramatic, live showdown. If the PokerWorld Champion triumphs, he will win $625,000 (minimum), forcing "The Pokerface" to unmask before the world. If "The Pokerface" wins: his identity remains a secret and the pot carries forward to next years event.

Over the coming weeks, PokerWorld.com will unveil a series of clues as to the true identity of "The Pokerface" with special prizes awarded to those able to guess the name of the player behind the million-dollar mask. The PokerWorld champion will be crowned Nov. 14/2004 with The PokerFace Showdown following two weeks later on Nov. 28/2004.
