11/05/2000 May 11, 2000 LAS VEGAS - The Desert Inn Resort's 14,500 square foot freeform swimming pool, one of the largest in Las Vegas, is set amidst towering palms that have been imported from the Canary Islands, South America and other exotic lands. A meandering lagoon with multiple, picturesque waterfalls and footbridges creates a lush, soothing environment for guests. In the 1950's, The Desert Inn's swimming pool became known as a haven for Hollywood stars and starlets alike. It was the place to be and be seen. That tradition continues today with many celebrity sightings.
An oversized whirlpool and an expansive poolside sundeck provide hotel guests with a secluded oasis right at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. Private cabanas are available for rental to registered hotel guests. Deluxe cabanas include a dining table with four (4) chairs, lounge chairs, ceiling fan, cable television with a remote, telephone with local and 800 calls free, misting system, newspaper, bottled water and a fruit basket. Cabanas are available for $100 per day, Monday through Thursday and $125 per day Friday through Sunday.
During pool hours, the Pool Grill, located on an elevated terrace overliiking the lush fairways of The Desert Inn Golf Club, offers guests refreshing beverages, salads, sandwiches and snacks. The menu features items such as coconut shrimp, Caesar salaad and soft-shell crab sandwiches. The Pool Grill is open to hotel guests and the public Thursday through Sunday.
