08/02/2001 Online Gaming Company bought by Vivendi subsidiary for US$140 million
Flipside, a subsidiary of Vivendi Universal, recently purchased online gaming company Uproar Inc. for US$140 million. According to Uproar, the combined company is expected to produce US $70 million in revenue this year. Based on Media Metrix data, Uproar estimated that together they would have had a total audience of 14.7 million unique users in December 2000 and would deliver more than 1 billion advertising impressions per month. The deal is expected to close within the next two months. Flipside had agreed to pay $3 per share for outstanding Uproar stock. Uproar?s stock has undergone a major financial setback during the past year. The stock was trading at US$35 a share last March and dropped as low as 75 cents in December.
