08/05/2005 More than 184,450 players won prizes in last night's Lotto Texas drawing, but none held a jackpot-winning ticket for the $29 million drawing. As a result, on Saturday, October 23, players will try their luck at this year's biggest top prize yet - an estimated $38 million!
"It's been a year since we've experienced this much excitement," said Texas Lottery Commission Executive Director Linda Cloud. Ticket sales for the weekend drawing already top $1.04 million. "It's great to see renewed excitement and participation in the game," Cloud said. "This is like looking to the past when the Lotto Texas jackpot rolled into high double-digit amounts more often."
From 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. today, an average of 1,590 tickets was sold each minute at the Lottery's 15,440 on-line product retailers for the current game!
Historically, when the Lotto Texas jackpot reaches the $30 million range, net sales for those drawings are two to three times higher than net sales for a $4 million jackpot.
The $38 million jackpot takes over as the largest Texas Lottery prize offering so far this year, edging out a $37 million jackpot prize awarded in the July 17th Lotto Texas drawing. |
