31/08/2000 When Station executives boycotted a public hearing, the Missouri Gaming Commission voted unanimously to revoke the gaming licenses that allow Station Casinos Inc. to operate in the state.
Late Tuesday, Station executives challenged the commission's investigative authority and refused to honor subpoenas to testify at the Kansas City hearing into the activities of Michael Lazaroff, a St. Louis lawyer who once represented Station. A Station attorney says the company would appeal the hastily prepared order, which will trigger a public hearing later this year and probable lawsuits that could take years to resolve. Proposed revocation of its Missouri licenses could even trigger a similar inquiry in Nevada, where Station operates five casinos.
However, Station's casinos will continue to operate while legal matters are resolved.
